Like many of us here, i work with multiple DAWS (mostly Sonar and Logic).  I have been looking for a Sonar equivalent to the Sample Delay plug-in in Sonar. The sample Delay plug-in for Logic is one of those  plugs that feels magical despite being painfully simple in both interface and function.  I'm kicking myself because it's been there all along.  I recently discovered (thanks to using Google to search Sonar instead of the forum search : http://forum.cakewalk.com/Sonar-equivalent-to-Logic39s-39Sample-Delay39-m2551315.aspx
 
Talk about feeling silly. Not sure why i never noticed it is essentially the same thing and then some.

Oh yeah. It's great for that. Before I fully understood "delay" in its purest form I was manually nudging cloned clips to get Haas type delay. I didn't want to use plugs because... well they seem to do other stuff as well as the simple "move this ahead by x milliseconds".
 
Channel Tools... yeah just turn a dial and you're good to go. I put it on mono track clones and use it that way but I think it can be set up to do that without the need to use a separate track. Delay without all the extra guck and slapping around.
 
CT actually confuses the heck out of me because I still struggle with m-s, stereo, panning, etc crap but it certainly is one of the more useful dealymabobs we have. It seems to have been designed and included to overcome some of the on track limitations.
 
If they made it so you could insert VSTs into it and use them in parallel... that would make it knock down awesomesauce.

One of the reasons i never noticed it was the samwe is because the logic plug basically has two sliders for left/right channels and a link button.

DAWs are like word processors or graphics packages. If a particular function, like "bold" in a word processor, is available in one it's probable it is available in another. If it's a really basic function that's present in most then it will most likely be present in all.

Finding out what it's called and where it hides in "this particular DAW" can be quite a process though.

Sample delay will give you part of the functionality of Channel tools.  I'm sure some combo of other plugins will fill in the rest

Channel Tools is like so many things in Sonar. It gets no respect or is ignored. We rather spend good money on third party tools that the developer assures us is the cat's meow. The last word in plugin heaven. A test was done a few years ago where a member tested the Sonitus EQ against the best EQs around. What he did was deactivate the DSP section of each EQ and found they were identical.  What made them different was the coloration that each developer added via their own DSP.
 
I wasn't surprised by his conclusions.   

John, doesn't shock me either.  It's why i actually find myself gettin rid of plugins instead of adding.  i have bought 3 plugins the last two years: Mmultianalyzer, MautodynamicEQ and Nectar 2 while tossing a bunch i was not using.

I've pretty much stopped buying any more plugins too...

Having as many 1176/la2a/ssl-bus compressors, and the quad eq giving both neve and so curves covers at least 90% of my needs...

Channel Tools? I've been using that for many things over the years... Delay is a nice touch... The mid-side control is there when I need it and mist often? The panning control so that I can adjust stereo widths and placement of the stereo image... I often want things to gave width without having either side glued to the edge!

Compare the Logic and SONAR external inserts. They're virtually identical!
