This will be confusing for me to explain.

I started X3 then Splat this morning. Oddly it slowly rescanned all the VST FXs. My past total was ~400. After the scan it was ~600.

My WAVES VSTs (which used to show up in a folder (WAVES)) were now all listed with my other VSTs. One huge list. except other VSTs which show as nested in folders (Nomad Factory & Tracks) are showing up where they should be.

The only change I made since yesterday were a few NI updates which I don't think would affect the VST scan. I haven't done anything to WAVES.

Anyone else seen this?

Any ideas how to fix it?

The plugin manager options have several different ways to set how plugins are listed list in the insert fx menus. If the default has changed to a different one that might explain what you're seeing.

I haven't changed a thing since yesterday other than the NI updates. I'm not sure what's going on. Seems there are two Waveshell entries. One as a VST2 and one as a VST3. I've noticed they now show up and VST3s which is okay yet I fail to understand what caused this. It never showed up as VST3 before.

I do have one question: Will a created project automatically grab a VST3 FX if a VST2 is already there? Will Splat automatically do that or am I doomed to see this endless list if WAVES plugsin til I completely migrate to using VST3s?

Waves are all available as VST3s.
Sonar Platinum has a setting for VST2 s to be replaced by their VST3 counterpart if available.

See Preferences->Files-> VSTplugins and see if the box is checked. It is best to.

It may be that the plugin numbers are greater than you have because even though the VST2s are scanned and counted, they won't be used or listed if there is an equivalent VST3.
