By the way, I haven't used a Nucleus but it is one of the coolest-looking surfaces out there.

Mackie Control works great.  However, there are build quality issues in recent versions.  I had the original Mackie Control for about 5 years, and it was solid.  Maybe one record button wore out.

Then I went to Mackie Control Universal Pro with two extenders.  The scribble-strip LCD's faded to darkness within six months.  I had them replaced, and those also faded to black in less than a year.  I'm in touch with Mackie recently:  the newest batch of LCD's should be better.

It's be best bang-for-buck controller.  I just hope quality control over there in China has gotten better.  (He says, knowingly, wink wink, say no more.)
I just had my MCU Pro replaced for a dim scribble strip. It was out of the Mackie Warranty (1 year) but still in the Sweetwater 2 year warranty. They just sent me another one (brand new) and I sent the original back. I notice that the scribble strip on the new unit is brighter than the one on my original ever was, even when new. Thank you Sweetwater for honoring your warranty.

Time will tell how long before this one starts to dim, if at all.

From what I have been told, the part is about $100.00 from Mackie but it is an absolute nightmare to install as literally the entire unit has to be taken apart. It looks like it would be simple, but it's not. This comes from people who have done it.

YMMV...

i use the mackie mcu pro with the c4 rotary controller.
all the other surfaces fall short for me because they cant handle large plugin control.  the mcu works with many daws and the c4 automatically maps any vst.

How you you get the C4 to map the plugins - that's a mystery to me. The MCU PRO/XT combination is awesome except Sonar keeps losing the MIDI connection - reset!

Cheers.

Hi sdpate, I followed your instructions and my vst's can be controlled. But what about the ProChannel, can it be controlled? It seems it only controls the first effect in the chain. Can you get it to display the other effects in ProCh?

Thanks,

This thread is 4 years old and you are quoting a post made 2 years ago.

I'm not aware of any control surface that can control the ProChannel. The ProChannel functions are not exposed for external control. Only the EQ.

Hmm... they are exposed, as ACT and Filter interface (the last one has special ProChannel addition and unfortunately several nasty bugs).
