...from ZOOM site...

Precautions

# Even if the DAW software does not come with a key mapping setup file but supports Mackie Control, basic functions such as panning, fader, and transport control are still possible.
(Note: the HD16 is not compatible with "Cakewalk SONAR".)

The 'not compatible with Sonar' bit on the Zoom website probably indicates that there is no dedicated control surface plugin for it. However it is possible to use pretty much anything with the Generic Control surface protocol, as long as the surface is sending MIDI. HOWEVER, you need to 'teach' the GCS (Generic Control Surface) interface using the Midi Learn function. 'Generic' means it can be used with any controller, but it has no way of knowing how to respond to whatever MIDI commands the controller is sending unless you tell it how. This is pretty clearly outlined in the manual.

Depending on what version of Sonar you're using (it was introduced in version 6), you might also have some luck using the ACT MIDI CONTROLLER (ACS) protocol, which will let you control different plugins with the surface and switch between them automatically based on what you're working on at the time. It also takes some setting up, again you'll need to consult the manual to get the most out of it. You'll face a bit of a learning curve but it will be worth it in the end...

Good luck!

I noticed that there is now a control surface plugin on the zoom site for use with Sonar.  I'm not sure how to use it, can anyone elaborate?

Hi Folks
Has anyone had any success with this? I have followed all the instructions from the Zoom web site and loaded all the drivers etc but am not having any luck. My problem seems to be selecting the ports. I open the ACT drop down menu and I can see the (Zoom HD16) as a surface option but it has no ports selected. I click on the port dropdown menu and can see the HD16 port listed, I select the port and hit enter and repeat the process for the other port. I seems to be ok untill I click on the "Apply" button. The dialog box then disappears and reappears with the ports no longer selected? Any ideas?
Thanks S

I guess the plug-in is 32bit only and you try to use it with 64bit Sonar.
