  • Potential bug - user pre-sets in Export dialog and new file formats

I'm pretty sure this isn't my error, wondering if anyone can replicate.

I'm working on a sound effects job, and they want all the files in Ogg format. And Sonar now exports Ogg, so that's nice.

However, I've made a preset with the file format set to Ogg, but it doesn't persist. When I re-load the pre-set, all the other settings I've stored come back, but the file type comes up as WAV.

Anyone seen anything similar?

John I've just tried it and the setting for OGG persists here, using a preset I just created. This is after switching back to a couple of different ones and then back to mine.

Yes. I tried to create a "What You Hear" saved at 24/96 so I wouldn't have to keep changing the standard one. When I loaded the preset I created, it still had the default settings. Either the settings aren't being saved correctly, or read on load correctly.

I deleted my preset and continue to use the default "What You Hear" and change the settings manually.

Dan

The only thing that never persists for me when using my presets is the setting for Source (Tracks, Busses or Mains)

I can confirm that all settings except "Source" persist.

Hmm, I'll have to try it again then. Maybe it has been fixed, or I just did something wrong the last time I tried it.

For me it always reverts to the default on first use. If you keep Sonar open my pre set will stick until I close Sonar. Always been that way. It would be nice if my preference would stick. My only change is from 32 to 16 bit. That's it. The rest is the default. It is a PITA if I forget and then try and burn to a CD. Wave Lab can work with 32 bit files so I don't notice my mistake until burn time..
Anyways I don't call it bug, just a feature that is missing. I would like it better if Export  had a "preference" menu that sticks instead of pre sets.

The general preferences values stick for the session. If you want something more permanent why not just save a custom preset like "CD Master" and recall it? That's what presets are for after all :)

I understand this so that that's what the OP does, but the ogg-setting doesn't get saved with the preset. At least the OP says he's made a preset.
