Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum here. However a long time Cakewalk user.
 
I have been using Sonar X3 for over a year, and haven't had a single issue. I love this program, however the last full song I recorded is acting a fool. I emailed it to 5 people for critiques before releasing. All the recipients that it was sent to got the exact same file.
 
1) Drums only
2) No music only vocals
3) No vocals only music
4) Everything sounds fine
5) No vocals only music
   I was confused so I emailed it to myself. On my computer(not the comp with the software), it sounds fine, like I want it to. On my phone: No vocals on work computer: No vocals. When uploading to a site: No vocals...or..faintly FAINTLY super distorted vocals in the background. Sounds like Death metal black dahlia style screaming deeeeeeeep underneath the music.

So not clear to me, you emailed out the Sonar X3 project file ?  . . . or the exported audio mix from Sonar X3 ?
Do you have all tracks in the project sent to a master bus, and then export to audio the entire mix ?

Sounds like a wierd left/right phase problem that only shows up on stereo systems...maybe?

It wasnt the sonar file it was a mixed down wav and mixed down mp3

Sounds like a routing issue and/or not selecting the correct export source. Triple check your settings to make sure all tracks go to the master, all buses go to the master and the master goes to the main outs 1/2.

Sounds like at the very least, some processor is throwing the vocals out of phase. I assume that the 1-5 in the first post refers to the different experiences of the five people who received the file...yes? And that it was the same file that was sent to all five? 3-5 all make sense with vocal phase issues, but 1 and 2 seem truly bizarre.
 
Don't know how indulgent the five people are, but one test would be to bypass all effects, do a mix, then send out that file and see what happens.

 
It sure sounds like something that needs to be mono-compatibility-tested.
The weirdest one is that drums only-version. I don't understand, how it's possible, if the others
missed the (double-tracked-hard panned-phase cancelled??) vocals.
Isn't it so that if you export tracks directly, without routing them together through Master bus, or without mono-testing, things like phase cancellations can pass unnoticed ??

I removed all effects, and then made sure all busses and masters were correctly outted. I emailed to myself and one other person. What we found was through speakers no vocals, with headphones...vocals. This part is really confusing me. I also, created a promo video using this.

I'm way thrown off by this.

I FINALLY got it to flippin' work. I had to wipe the vocals completely and re do those. I took out all effects, except eq and now it works fine. Thank you all for the advice. I'll be floating around here more for tips and tricks.
