I played around again with the Kinetic Treats giveaway library yesterday, and I was not inspired at all to go for the full Kinetic Toys.    The "wacky" interface with hidden controls is not a positive feature in my book.

My comments on these 2 fine libraries are intended as satire. UVI is so expensive even on sale and NI's is just filler for Komplete 12. If they were $10 each there would be no reason to part with the money.

And yet the demo tracks sound very good. Its not something on my shopping list but for someone doing scores rather than producing "songs" it could be useful. A lot of these off the wall libraries are aimed at a different market.

The negative comments about this plugin are narrow minded.  It does depend on what you are doing.  If you are into producing (boring) rock or pop music that does not break any ground especially then yes you may not find a huge amount of use for this plugin.

But for someone into scoring very unusual soundtracks and requiring some very unusual sounds then this could be an amazing plugin.  A bit like the new NI Thrill plugin for example.  Not everyone's cup of tea either but fantastic for others though.

I could also say lets not waste any more money on yet another guitar amp simulator plugin too. After all how many do you need?

I got Kinetic Treats for free and have found it quite interesting indeed.  But yes I do agree the full upgrade price is steep.  But if you are someone who can make use of this a lot then it may be worth it.  Especially if you are getting paid (such as myself) to produce soundtracks that can use these sounds.  Then it becomes a no brainer.

I got the Kinetic Treats freebie, and it is certainly interesting.  I was trying to find a use for it, and it gets more interesting when you layer it with other instruments.  The unusual sounds create movement, that can add motion or extra depth to a boring strings pad for example.

I played around with one layer using Treats, another with some sequences in Reaktor Blocks Wired, and finally a Cinematic Strings preset from Sampletank.  Some interesting textures can be found by mixing things up!

But I agree that the full Kinetic Toys does seem a bit over-priced!
