  • [SOLVED] Kontakt Latency Issue

Hi, I recently updated to Kt 5.6.8 and now notice MIDI latency is unusable: almost 1 sec from hitting a key and hearing a sound.
MIDI tracks play in sync but physically playing and recording is way off. I don't remember what settings to change to fix this.

Also, playback misses notes every so often.

Any help?

Check that your driver hasn't changed.  Non-ASIO drivers
will usually have unacceptable levels of latency

I found the latency issue. LP-EQ was in the FX bin. When turned ON I get about a 1 second delay playing notes. When turned OFF or removed from the track the delay disappears.

Since when should an EQ cause latency like that?

Linear phase algorithms require a look ahead buffer and are intended for mixing and mastering. To track with the LP-EQ go into the expert menu and change the precision to Non-Linear.

Yup!  There should also be a large banner in the plugin announcing this fact!

Sonar really needs a performance windows a la studio one juts to get cpu hit and latency per instance of plugin .... i m using studio just for that info

Even without the look ahead / linear phase Kontakt and LP EQ and LP MB seem to have performance issues together. I reported to cakewalk. Problems go beyond usual drop outs and unless you use very high MIDI buffer you get many dropped notes (something like periodical chunks of notes missing) at low CPU use already

Thanks for the insights.
