That might invite a fight over how close the emulation is to the original. For me they might as well be called mode 1 through 4.

Probably right.

Hi:)

The Difference is the Q-Factor. Not the Q you can change, the Curve  you can see and hear.

Hybrid: UP wide, DOWN Narrow

Pure: The same UP and DOWN, very wide
G-Type: The same UP and DOWN, very narrow
E-Type: The same UP and DOWN, between Pure and G-Type

I can't hear any difference from the Sound itself, if you change all to have the same Q-Factor.

I use either Hybrid or Pure, depending on how I feel.

Really scientific.

IIRC, the E type emulates an SSL 4000 E series console EQ and the G type an SSL 4000 G series.  The way the different bands interact is different, too - I guess due to the Q width.

The Pure is more like a standard digital EQ, and the Hybrid is a mix of E and G - narrow Q for cut and wider Q for boost.

I tend to use the Hybrid most of the time, but will use the G type if I want more of a general "tone shaping" EQ.

If I want to do a lot of "clinical" EQ I tend to use the Sonitus - and  love my Nomad Factory PulseTec EQs too.

It's all just wobbly lines to me. I make it a bit more wobbly, then go back and make it a bit less wobbly and then usually leave it that. Sometimes I press the gloss button even though it doesn't seem to make any difference, but somedays I just like pressing butttons.

It would be nice to implement some "EQ presets" (starting points) that could be called up within the Quad Curve - just a thought...

I will not claim to understand the differences between the modes in the QC EQ. I usually just tweak in hybrid mode, and check the other modes to see if I like any of the others better. I do not hear any big differences, but then again I sit in a very small room and play on low volumes. I usually end up with hybrid or pure.

If I use it I use the default setting. I read about the differenses a long time ago but my memory is at the same level as a rodent so no clue really. Have stopped using it more or less anyway since I got Meldas AutoDynamicEq (hard one to beat imho). Got Alloy 2 recently and use that EQ quite a lot as well.
