  • How to quiet certain part of the bar (for a non-loop wave file) for next 5-7 bars?

Scenario: I have a lead guitar/keyboard part where I want to silent/slice/create zero volume certain part of every 4 beat bar for creative effect (maybe every 11/16th of the bar for next 5 bars). What is the most effective way of doing it?
Thanks.

Several ways of doing this.

- Highlight the part you want to reduce, then go to the process menu, gain, and select whatever gain you want.

- Put in volume automation, add nodes at the right places and reduce the volume. I like this one better because you can tweak it and it's non-destructive.

There are probably other ways too, these two just off the top of my head.

Another way would be to split your clips up to isolate the bits you want silenced and mute them.

If it was me, I'd go with volume automation.

I would go for volume automation as well.
Best of luck.

I'm a noob, but volume automation was my first thought as well... I'm learning!!

If it was just a few bars, I'd probably switch to the Mute tool and just start dragging the lower half of the clip.

I still have not used the mute tool. Will try to use it next time I am in the studio.
