I am trying to create a template that has 4 mic/w effects, 3 guitars and an Addictive drum kit. Somewhere when I am adding the vocal effects I get distortion from the main volume knob on the foucusrite and the meters in Sonar are stuck on clipping levels and I have restarted, reloaded drivers, updated software and I cannot successfully save a project template that is not corrupt. If you need more info I am readily frustrated and ready to answer.

Can you save effects to a project template ?

Yes.
As a test, I just created a project template containing
An audio track with Channel Tools in the FX bin and an audio clip in the track
A MIDI track with the Event Filter in the FX bin
An Instrument track with DPro loaded
A Master bus with FabFilter Pro-Q
Metronome and Preview Buses
And a Reverb Bus with Sonitus Reverb

Created a new project with the template. When loading, the project wanted the path to the audio clip. Other than that, the template loaded without incident.

It may be the plug-ins selected, it may be the routing used. Difficult to say without more details about the template. If, I have the plug-ins used in the template, I would be glad to load and test it for you.

While a template should work, another solution is to keep the file as an empty project and copy it whenever you need the layout.

I'm not saying this is the resolution, but I've managed to resolve this sort of issue issue by completely uninstalling the Focusrite drivers completely. Then Reboot the computer and reinstall (Obviously install the latest on the web). Important you follow that order.

When that is done if you are running mix control clear all the settings and reset factory defaults.

Also try turning off 64 bit precision engine in Sonar.

Thanks for the replies
It looks like it is some stability issue with the vocal strip plugin.
After uninstalling and updating the same thing happened when I load multiple instances of vocal strip.
So I tried one more time and this time I save the template after every instance and so far so good.

Also it seems if I have the input gain at lowest setting while I drag an instance of vocal strip I maintain a stable environment. Anyways I am up and running with my new template.
yip yip yahoo.
I saved 2 templates just in case

Another option to consider is track templates. These will recall buss routing as well and allow for more surgical insertion of CPU overhead as needed. In a full blown project/template, you can right click a track or folder to save as a track template.

If a project template gets too heavily loaded (esp. with certain soft synths), it can become difficult to track without bypassing effects.

Funny that you mention track template. I took the time to learn all about it. Thanks!
I havnt had time to make a report but I certainly will. Also do you think I can link this thread with the vocal strip problem thread?
