Staring a a while screen that flickers every 30 seconds or so ... windows tells me Sonar is "not responding".

Trying to load a current project, saved in Dorchester, nothing special about it that I know, except fairly heavy load of VST instruments.

Any ideas?   Memory stuff different in the new build?
The 'performance' module has not updated, during all this flickering, though most of the project looks open (until I try to do something).    According to windows task manager, sonar is using 24 GB memory, a lot, but less than half of what's available.    CPU at about 10%.      Been watching it flicker for about 5 minutes so far ...

I'm watching two different time displays update independently, two "Now time" cursors.     The "Big Time" in seconds marks where one of the cursors is, while the control bar display marks in beats where the other cursor is.   One or the other changes every 15-20 seconds, then all freezes again.

As I keep watching this thing flicker ... feels like an hour now ... I get the strong impression that it is trying to replay the last few hours of work, before I saved the project in Dorchester and loaded in Everett.   Is that possible?  Something to do with the undo stack?    Still seeing two independed now times, and they are still changing, every 15-30 seconds.   This is from the initial load of the project, I have not done anything at all (like push play, or change a value somewhere).

Another update:  it is PLAYING my project, I just realized.   I didn't start it, and I can't stop it, but it is in the last loop area I set,  the audio sounds fine (headphones, which I had taken off to protect my ears just in case ...)

Another idea:  could they have put in something that is going to want to go on the internet?   Secretly?   And doesn't stop trying?    I always turn off the network adapter except for things like downloading updates.

Just an update, I finally killed Everett, rebooted, rolled back to Dorchester, and the same project loaded successfully and seems to work fine.    This is a large project, but far from the largest one I've used successfully.

Hi. To your last question. I have used SONAR both plugged and unplugged from internet, without any difference.
Try to open the project in safe mode ( Press Shift while opening), to check if there is any problems with a plugin(s).
Best of luck.

Another 6 hours gone but I think the problem was yet another thing with CW's innumerable VST file locations.    There was a BREVERB and there was a BREVERB and they weren't the same thing.    Eliminated yet again all the damn locations.   Thanks for the reminder about safe mode, that helped identify what was loading where.
