  • Clips libraries for Sonar?

I am new to Sonar and have done some basic things so far.

I don't have much time and was wondering if there were any libraries that had pre-composed MIDI sequences for hard rock type songs. I don't care much if the song is original or not - just want a full song or at least something quicker than starting from scratch. Maybe these are called loops?

I am mostly looking for bass and drums, maybe some keys/synths or such. I have Sonar Artist and Dimension Pro running.

Sorry I don't know much yet.

The media/clips come/s with Platinum. You have the tools, just no "data"..

If you click "B", you will open the browser. There you will find all kinds of goodies Incl. MIDI and audio. Try dragging a clip into your track view for starters. With MIDI, you will need a VSTi (synth of some sort) to route the MIDI (which is just information, and not sounds) track to.

Thanks much. I opened the browser and went to the media tab. From there I have some very cool MIDI loops to audition. So far sounds like drums but I will try and route some of the bass loops thru some kind of bass synth. Hopefully this will work. If anyone know of any loop bundles Cakewalks sells ala cart or good rock MIDI from other 3rd party sellers, please advise. I don't see the need to buy Platinum since I don't need any more effects or functionality - just want some loops. Thanks again.

Open the Media tab. (if needed, use arrow up) Under Cakewalk Content, choose MIDI Library. There you will find MIDI loops of different sorts, incl. bass. Insert Rapture (just an example), click on the "empty program". It will open a list of instruments / synths. Go to bass, and choose a preset (play with different presets as well, because there are many cool ones). Choose Rapture as synth preview output. Now you can audition the midi through the browser.
Best of luck.

Checkout GrooveMonkey for drum midi loops. They might have bass too. Not sure.
