come on cakewalk. It's time to deal with the FW 1884 issue. It's a great controller designed to work with sonar and has worked since version 3 and has worked with every other version since.

Welcome! I guess you can get better answers in case you explain which issue you mean.

The controller surface no longer recognized by Sonar platinum. It appears in the controller surface drop-down menu however there are parentheses surrounding the 1884.

I use the FW-1884 with Sonar Platinum 64. Plug In Manager shows 19 'registered' Control Surfaces.
I will not list them all: But the top of the list is 'ACT Midi Controller' and the last is 'VS-700'.
Included are 3 Tascam's : FE-8, FW-1884 and US-428.

My FW-1884 works very efficiently with Sonar Platinum.
There is a firewire issue with Windows 8 now, but this thread http://forum.cakewalk.com/FW1884-and-Win8-legacy-m2813975.aspx did a whole lot of good in helping this.....

I have a FW-1884.

It works with Sonar platinum as an audio interface and I haven't had any trouble as a control surface either, although I've mostly used the navigation buttons so far.

Have you installed the control surface driver? Did you check it was configured as Native in the tascam applet & computer mode on the device?

Thanks guys. I had the 32-bit installed not the 64-bit. Call tech-support they didn't seem to see that particular problem :-) again thanks a lot.
