Hi everybody
Could be a silly question ...but..
after recording a midi track , if I want to record another part / midi notes on the same midi track it's always creating a new midi file upon the old one and then I have to bounce them manually to have a unique midi file.
Is there a way to set up Sonar to make it recording inside the original midi clip directly ?
Thanks

That would be the standard default behaviour for any record button,  you press record and it overwrites what you already recorded.

I'm not in front of my DAW just now, but from memory there is a record option for midi that provides an additive function like you're looking for.  Try right clicking or hovering over the record button.

Yes, you can overwrite the file of course , but if I need to record something in loop,  adding more parts every recording on the same midi file , I can't find a way to do that within the same file, it's always creating other midi files on the same track
I.e. : in Pro tools if you record in Assembly mode , it's doing it within the same track, so that at the end you just have one and only midi file in the same track
Hope someone can help me out
thanks

The recording modes are described here in the manual.

The Sound on Sound mode will produce the results you want, adding to existing data on the track rather than overwriting it,  but it does it by creating new clips each time which are layered.

You need to vote for that request in order to make it happen.
