I typically create a copy of a project file (.cwp) in a "gig" folder by set number to organize for a show. Now that I'm using Platinum, I see a *.cwp.assets file for each .cwp file. Do I need to also copy the .assets file or will Cakewalk automatically create a new one when the .cwp file is opened?

The assets file if for gobbler. You should not need to copy this for your gig folder. If there is audio in the project you will want to move that as well. If the project is just for midi synths and such you will not need to copy any audio.

Currently the asset files are not used at all, Gobbler is not longer supported, no need to copy them. To stop creating the files disable the "Save Asset Manifests with Projects" setting in Preferences > File > Advanced. To see the advanced settings make the Advanced radio button is selected the the bottom of the Preferences dialog. If the asset file are ever used again, enabling the feature will cause them to be built as needed.
