what is the length of you midi cable extension?

About six feet.

Glad you've mentioned this. I dream of positioning the Privia about 40 feet away at the other end of the church and having Sonar play it antiphonally from the front. Figuring it would need a connection at least 60 feet long running around under and above floors. Is there a limit -- or a delay?

I believe the midi spec sets the max at 50 feet. Doesn't mean anyone adheres to the spec when they manufacture and sell a midi device. So your in the field results could vary a lot from the spec. There are active midi extenders available if you have a problem. USB is covered under a different spec but the active midi extenders are similar in design to the active USB extenders.

edit... either cable may not be rated for under the floor or plenum (above ceiling) use.

Well well, it appears USB 3.0 is a disadvantage sometimes -- "Maximum length of USB active (repeater) cable":

The ethernet idea mentioned there is wireless only, right? Anybody ever tried it?

Wow, what does this mean re SONAR X3 Producer -- "No USB dongle required"?   http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2405702,00.asp
