  • [Solved] Can't Get Melodyne to Work

Upgraded to Sonar Professional and installed the Melodyne that comes with it.  Short of memory on program drive I chose the Rewire 'driver' on the checkbox.  But Melodyne doesn't show up under the Region FX button?  Any ideas on how I should install to get it to appear there?

Could you elaborate on this? I don't understand how this would be a workaround for lack of disk space. It should not be a massive install and if you are THAT low on space... well time to clean up the drive or buy a new one. Rewiring it seems like it would totally defeat a lot of the benefits of ARA integration.

Anyway... if you installed it normally it should show up under Region FX but you may just need to do a VST scan (making sure the Celemony/Melodyne folder is included) to make it show up.

Melodyne's VST3 format must be installed for the Region FX menu option to work.

Thanks guys,

I'll try VST3 and scan tomorrow,

Failing that, it should also install in standalone mode.  It's not quite as convenient as using it in Region FX, but works well and if like me you have a computer with a less-than-ideal CPU it's a little kinder on CPU usage.  Obviously you have to find the audio track manually, but it works.

Obviously you have to find the audio track manually, but it works.

You can add Melodyne to the Tools menu. This will let you select a clip, passing it to the stand alone Melodyne like any other free standing editor and returning the edited clip back to SONAR. Cool, I didn't know about that.  Thanks.

Many thanks to all.  VST3 did the trick and Region FX is a great way to work on vocals.  New machine on its way will lose all the memory problems.

Please edit the original post and add [Solved] to the subject line.
It may help others with the same issue.

That is indeed cool. Am I to assume I can add other DAWs like Reaper into the Utilities menu to access some of the functions Sonar may not have?

If so... does using ASIO screw anything up due to having two programs occupying the driver/interface or does Sonar somehow manage that while editing is going on?

Sorry if those are silly questions. This seems to be a little more advanced stuff than I'm used to.

Cheers.
