Hey, guys.  Yes it is selections in track view, paste in track view, selections in Staff View, paste in Staff View, and note placement in Staff View.  As far as I can tell, there is no consistent offset: Sonar is placing/pasting/marking wherever it thinks I have the cursor, so if I happen to be exactly on an 1/8 note, that's what I get.  If I happen to be six or 10 ticks off, that's what I get.  If I just randomly click on the staff, I should get notes exactly on the 1/8 or 1/16 or whatever according to the snap setting, but I don't: I get notes at random times.

Regarding magnetism, it was low and then I set it high to see which way was better but that didn't fix the problem.  Where *should* that be set?

Either this is a bug personal to me, or there is some setting somewhere that is not obvious to me.

That really sounds like it is outright ignoring Snap altogether. This occurs in all your projects (including newly created projects) or just your current project? Sorry if you already ansered that.

Could be corruption only affecting Snap (or as far as you've noticed). If no answer is forthcoming perhaps sending a copy of the project to tech support so thay can take a look might benefit not only you but anyone else who may get this issue.

And I do not know if there is a Sonar setting that does this but maybe there is a "feature" that overides active Snap settings and results in what would normally happen with Snap disengaged. Like keybinding or something that temproarily disables snap without disabling it in the Control Bar. If that is the case perhaps a keyboard/mouse/windows input issue is occuring. Like a wireless keyboard/mouse going bad and sending faulty data or soemthing weird like that.

Just some thoughts. Grasping at straws really. Good luck.

Set it to extreme, to rule it out. It's not high or low, it's light and extreme. Set it to extreme, not the step before, but extreme.

Thanks, guys.  This is happening on my current song/project and it happened on one I just finished.

I will try the magnetism setting.

there are two snap areas, one in the control bar and one in the PRV, make sure you have the right one selected?

Konradh, start a new project, just to be sure.

Create a drum trk. Then try and work with that as far as dropping, clipping, shifting...

With snap set to extreme, see if you still get the same results.

Opened a new project and added just one track (piano). Opened Preferences and in the SAMP section, selected HIGH.  (I do not have Extreme—just Off, Low, Med, and High).

Opened a Staff view with snap set to 1/8 and note value set to 1/8.  Randomly clicked around the staff and got notes at all sorts of random times (like 2:3:619, 3.4.148, etc.).  Even notes that were visually stacked on top of each other were at different times.

Basically, I have no Snap function anymore.

Sorry Konradh, just realised you are in X1, so I'm guessing it was labelled differently for the magnetism settings

Have you contacted tech support for some insider help? This sounds very familiar as I remember all sorts of snap issues with X1. I'm surprised that it's taken this long for the problems to arise. Call the tech experts and save yourself more grief. Good luck.

Check the "Event draw duration" field, it affects snapping in SV, not "Snap" in the snapping module.
