So I got 4 midi inputs from 1 device I need to assign. I tried to assign them and ACT is just way inconsistent. Why cant this thing be a simple drop down menu? Please make it a simple drop down menu to re-assign commands next time. I hit a cell and the whole dang window changes. This is not fun at all and stressing me out. I been trying to assign this device since I bought it but assigning midi learn is a frustrating job I can't stand doing. Anybody have any tips for laying out my Buttoms, sliders, and rotaries to different parts of Sonar X3?

I'd love a matrix type window for it, you could also set ranges for a controller to work over, making the controller more sensitive.

ACT has the same relation to "commands" as drum sticks to a guitar  Do you mean "ACT MIDI" plug-in which work with ACT AND Commands?
Also what are "your Buttons"? I mean which device you have?
Spending a half an hour with Chapters 20 and 40 of Sonar Reference Guide can help. Spending more on my site (see the signature) can also help.

"Out of the box" works only in case it was "in the box" (Novation Automap, Roland controllers and such). For the rest some tuning is required.

Not with matrix look, but several mapping modes as well as range are supported in my plug-in.

I can chime in with a recommendation for Alexey's plug-in (azslow3). It's also not the prettiest interface in the world and it can be tricky to set up - depending on what surface you are starting with and whether he has a preset set up for it already - but it's worth it: MUCH more complete and flexible, and in my experience more stable as well. I got frustrated enough with the ACT plugin to just give up, but the more I use the AZ plugin the more I like it. Trust him: he is kind of a Jedi master of the Midi control spec.... a Midi master, as it were.

I finally figured it out. Turns out I was doing it right the entire time; Just that the WAI color guides started overlapped meaning it looked like I only had 8 but had to drag out the WAI color strips to the different tracks I wanted them on as they all started on 1-8.
This is really confusing for someone. They should really work on making the equipment setup process a lot smoother and have a deep video tutorial on Setting up equipment and using WAI color markers in detail.
