I've seen this come up from time to time but I haven't been able to get a good step by step and I'm always a little wary of digging in to the registry. So hopefully there is someone who can write up the basic steps or point me to a tutorial or something.

I found this thread which pointed to a problem with Sonar sending some region flag and I would need to "add a DWORD" or something, I have no idea what it all means - forum.cakewalk.com/m/tm.aspx?m=3089217

Btw if it matters, it's about Sonar Platinum and RX3 specifically.

1. Open notepad to create a text file.
2. Copy the following text, editing the text to show the path to your software. Check exepath very carefully.
3. Note the double backslashes in line 2. This is not a mistake.
4. Save the txt file in notepad as something like RX3Utility menu. You choose.
5. Change the file extension from .txt to .reg.
Double click the file and answer yes. Voila a completed registry update has occurred.

Copy all the following:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Tools Menu\iZotope RX 3]
"ExePath"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\iZotope\\RX 3\\win64\\iZotope RX 3.exe"

My RX software happens to be installed in Program Files (x86) yours may well be Program Files just be careful.

If you're not confident, just give me the path for your RX3 .exe file and I'll PM you a txt file, written out just for your system and all you'll have to do is change the extension from .txt to .reg. Many email programs won't let you send a .reg file as an attachment.

Thank you, I got it to work. I found a step by step on the CW support site too. I mainly wasn't sure about the "DWORD" bit, and people were reporting it was needed to solve some errors. It was dropped in that thread I linked to as something that was common knowledge.

I'm just about to upload a full reworded instructions, that let novice users just create a .reg file they can double click to run and not even have to open the registry.

Good stuff, Mudgel. Not sure about the double backslashes though. The CWKB doesn't have them and mine works with singles...

The instructions I posted aren't for a manual registry edit. They help you to create a .reg file to run by double clicking it. Don't have to open regedit at all. That's why I mentioned that this was for novice users who weren't confident editing the registry.

In the registry, in the ExePath string, you enter the path with single backslashes.
When you export the eg iZotope RX3 key from the registry they show as double backslashes for the ExePath.
