A while ago I had to re-install Sonar X3 (Windows 7/64) and I forgot how to add in my Groove Monkee drum loops.   I ran all the installers for the GM loops packages that I have.   But I think I have to configure something from within Sonar right?   Thanks for the help, for some reason I just forgot how to do this :)

Groove Monkee loops are just MIDI files so all you have to do is drag them into a project from the browser.

Or you could preview them through a softsynth in the browser. https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=9F3AD2706EBA5D86!1009&authkey=!APzxFA25Mgky4uI&v=3&ithint=photo%2cjpg
This is in Platinum, but works the same in X3.

I just learned from the ReadMe that there are manual steps to point SONAR to the Groove Monkee install point.

Don't have it infront of me but you should have a ReadMe, right?

I have all my GM looks installed in here:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Groove Monkee

They're in various sub-folders there.  How can I point Sonar to them?  When I look at the Media Browser in Sonar there is a MIDI Groove Clips folder with Groove Monkee folder inside it that has a lot of stuff.   There is also a 'Groove Monkee' folder inside of the 'Session Drummer 3 MIDI Loops'

Then also... how do I set up an Audio track that plays the GM loops through Session Drummer synth?   I can't remember, and I apologize for that :)

FWIW, Groove Monkee supplies Session Drummer versions of their loops too.

What I did was create a directory junction to the Top Level folder in my Cakewalk Content MIDI Library folder. For example, using the default Cakewalk Content folder "C:\Cakewalk Content" run cmd.exe as administrator and type
mklink /j "C:\Cakewalk Content\MIDI Library\Groove Monkey2" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Groove Monkee"

This will cause a new entry in the Browser called "Groove Monkey2." If you prefer, instead of creating directory junctions, use the browser to navigate to the folder and save the location as a preset. Below is an image from http://www.cakewalk.com/D...p;help=Browser.03.html

Click on "G" in the image above to move up the browser then click the folder names until you get into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Groove Monkee." Once in the Groove Monkee folder click "L" in the image above to save the location as a preset.

I created junctions under "Session Drummer 3\Contents\Patterns" but it is just as easy to use the media browser in SONAR and forget about using the SD3 pattern browser.

BTW, GM comes with AD Drum files too. You might want to pick up both SD and AD midi files.

Yes, there are instructions in the Groove Monkee readme files about installing loops for both AD1 and AD2.

I thought I remember just creating at Soft Synth instance of Session Drummer, and loading a kit.  Then creating a new Audio Track and mapping it's output to Session Drummer, or something like that.   But I can't quite remember the steps to get there, and when I tried now,  Session Drummer isn't in the list of outputs of the audio track I created too (after creating a new synth).

Hi. You will need a MIDI track to point to  SD3, and can create a bus in the console view for output from SD3. As mentioned. To preview the clips, just use SD3 as preview synth.
