I thought I remember just creating at Soft Synth instance of Session Drummer, and loading a kit. Then creating a new Audio Track and mapping it's output to Session Drummer, or something like that. But I can't quite remember the steps to get there, and when I tried now, Session Drummer isn't in the list of outputs of the audio track I created too (after creating a new synth).
If you're looking for simplicity, in the Browser switch to the Instruments tab, and then simply click and drag Session Drummer to the left into empty space in the clips pane. That will auto-insert an instance of Session Drummer based on the settings in the pop-up dialog - Simple Instrument Track, separate MIDI and Audio tracks, etc.. The MIDI clips can then be dragged onto Session Drummer based on the settings you accepted in that pop-up dialog; directly to the SIT or to the MIDI track if you chose the separate MIDI and Audio tracks option.
A big benefit of dragging from the browser is that the routing is automatically set up for you (based on the settings in the pop-up dialog) so you don't need to manually add tracks after the fact and point them to the right I/O just to get things working.
