Not part of X-series either other than a few special promos such as the X1 Producer Expanded Suite. The PC4K S-Type Expander Gate was always a paid add-on.

+1 for the Sonitus Gate, I use it all the time.

You can also use the Waves Renaissance Channel which has a gate, as well as SSL E-Channel, which is currently $29.00 on the Waves Site and $25.00 on the Everyplugin.com site, plus you can use their code as well for a lesser price.

If open ProChannel on a mixerchannel, then go to the Compressor part .... Left click and select Replace Module ... you get a list showing among others ... the PC4k S-Type BusCompressor. Maybe this is what you are looking for ?

Nope. It's a different module altogether

All due respect, why would a "different module altogether" have an identical name? Also, the Bandlab comparison chart says it's in the new release.

The OP was asking about a gate. The full name of the PC4K gate module is PC4K S-Type Expander Gate which is a paid add-on. The PC4K module bundled with CbB is the PC4K S-Type Bus Compressor.

If the OP is concerned about the gate, the answer is "the installer in not in the Command Center but is in your account."

If the OP is concerned about the compressor then the answer is "it is probably installed but not available as an insert because the PC76 is already in the track's PC."

It's still really odd that the Sonitus suite gets so little love - I suspect it's to the "non-sexy" gui.

But most of us old timers have been using them more or less forever.

  • The suite is bundled with the core application
  • They are very light on CPU & RAM
  • They are extremely musical in that they don't impart any sort of colouring or flavour to your tracks
  • Their UI, whilst lacking bells & whistles provide all the controls you would reasonably expect

+1 for all the Sonitus stuff. Just good basic digital processing.  Does what it's supposed to and there are very useful presets built in.

I put sonitus gate and compressor on my template for tracking vocals many moons ago and have never felt the need to change them. I agree that the UI is a bit windows 2000 and although that shouldn't matter I am a bit of a sucker for a sexier looking UI, but they're just presets in a track template now, so I never look at them anyway.
