Hello all !
 
I like A LOT to add " Whammy type " pitch shifted layers to my main guitar sounds. (and sometimes on other textures)
Often, i pitch shift a D.I guitar (octave up/down) sound and reamp it to make an additionnal guitar layer.
 
Until now i've played a lot with " Waves SoundShifter " and finaly found out that " Antares Autotune 8 transpose module " (Instrument mode) sounds a bit more sharp, and i like it a lot.
 
I know there are reviews and articles online but from you personnal point of view and experience, i am very curious to know what are your favorites Shifter VST so far !

The Eventide diatonic pitch shift algorithm is in their QuadraVox and OctaVox plug-ins. For the traditional Eventide pitch shift, I would probably go with the H910 plug-in. The H3000 Factory plug-in implements a pitch shift similar to the H910 and H949.
 
Other interesting pitch shift plug-ins are Zplane Elatiique Pitch (I have the original, never bothered to upgrade) and Zynaptic Pitchmap.
 
It is also possible to load clips or entire tracks into Rapture (and most other sfz synths) and play them too. Although this messes with both pitch and time.

Not a VST and call me old-fashioned, but I really used to love the vari-speed knob on old tape machines :) If anyone knows of a VST that can act exactly like that and faithfully reproduce that effect as easily, I would love to know about it! I'm not trying to sound like one of those "back in the good old days when I was young" types, but genuinely there are some old analogue tricks that used to be done with ease that should technically be easy to do now in the digital domain but aren't because every plugin manufacturer wants to compete over that ancient EQ, compressor, tape emulator or saturation effect which has been done to death, but none of them wants to do the basics!
 
Other than that élastiquePRO or Melodyne work ok, but not quite as well as vari-speed ;)

The H910 VST is excellent. When you buy the Eventide version, you also get the Dual version. From their website:

The same is true for the H494 plug-in. I believe part of the motivation is the mono versions misbehave on stereo tracks (at least they used to I have not tested recently).
