My install;ation of SONAR X! has failed. About 3/4 of the way through the installation, I received the following error:

"External Installer Has Stopped Working"

Problem Event Name: BEX64

I would attach a screen print of the error message but I don't know how.

My computer is a brand new HP Pavillion Elite HPE-410y:

Phenom II X6 1045 (T) 2.7 GHz processor
AMD 785G Chipset
8 GB DDR Memory
Radeon HD 5770- Video Card
Focusrite USB 6 Soundcard
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

Can anyone from Cakewalk help me out and advice what my next step should be?

Thanks

Found this link
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r21766633-Windows-7-Windows-Installer-has-stopped-working

It involves tweaking the registry.

Also I found a few references to Visual C++ installer and dotNet (which is probably the tool set used by Cakewalk).

Good luck

Thanks feedback50, I bookmarked your link just in case...

I ended up doing the following which seemed to solve the issue:

1. Took a deep breath and stepped away from the computer...
2. Rebooted.
3. Ran a chkdsk /F  (No problems found)
4. Turned off my Anti-virus (which I forgot to do the first time)
5. Started the installation.

This second time, I made it through the complete installation without the error. I verified the install by opening X1 and running a project. Everything seems to be working.

Now I need to install Beatscape, Dimension Pro, and the additional content.

I'll take another deep breath...

I think you can try to use a drivers scanner or drivers download software to help you. It will helps you auto detect your drivers which are dated, missing, errors.
