MP3 Encoder update
SONAR’s MP3 export has been updated to the latest version of the LAME encoder. This new encoder has numerous bug fixes and export enhancements. Additionally, Variable Bit Rate (VBR) exports from SONAR now write an additional XING header to MP3 files, which allows other applications such as Windows Media Player to interpret the MP3 duration correctly.
  
Note: In order to activate MP3 encoding, you must purchase the optional “Cakewalk MP3 Activation” from the Cakewalk Store at www.cakewalk.com.

 
I bought this back at X1 I think....with the platinum are we suppose to re-download this or should that have happened automatically?

Hmmm...

I have the encoder on my main DAW and would love to install it on my laptop setup...

...but it is not listed in my account. I remember I had to contact customer support for it.

I believe this is the case for those of us who got the encoder back in version 9 or such. It was not a separate purchase.

So if this scenario is yours, you do need to contact support.

I'm still amazed that this isn't simply bundled in Sonar at this time. It was not used by everyone back then so I can understand it being separate, but now everyone has need of it. Time for Cakewalk to find a way of including it and avoiding all the extra effort of installing it...

There is a manual free method where you can hook in lame into Sonar if you can find it. Doesn't look as pretty but does the same. I don't bother now I just create them from the wav file away from Sonar if needed.

If you diwnliad the free lame encoder...

SPlat has made it even easier by supplying an entry in the drop down list... Though I changed it to the highest quality (320) with a quick edit...
