  • Plt slow to load projects - why? (p.2)

I'm not ready to wipe out X3e as it's rock solid and when I have clients or serious recording that's where I turn to. In the meantime learning to use the new stuff in Plt and hoping it'll get fixed soon.

No way...same here; X3e is the 'go-to' when Plt plays up...or doesn't play ie.

What are your VST settings in preferences?
Can you nail it down to a particular plugin?

You can also save as a bundle file, open it and save it again, that acts as a sort of 'defrag'.

Talking about defrag try doing it on your hard drive.

Yup antivirus as well.

VST: all ticked - Manual Scan - Rescan Failed Plug-ins, Rescan Existing Plug-ins
VST 3 Migration - Hide Related VST2 Plug-ins - Replace VST2 Plug-ins When Opening Projects
BitBridge Server Config - Automatic (Based on avail....)
General - Recycle Plug-in Windows

No particular plug-in - even opening a basic template takes quite a while

Automatic de-frag set up on my system.

What do you mean - 'yup antivirus as well?' I have MS Essentials running. Do you mean that it might be filtering and slowing it down? If so, then it's not having that effect on X3e

Thanks

Untick the rescan entries. Not sure if that has an effect with manual scan set or not. I do remember cakewalk giving out this advice.
Cheers..

I have noticed this as well when initially starting Platinum versus X3, but after the first launch of the program they both act comparable to simply opening the same project. My VST scan is on startup only, but I thought that module is a shared component between applications? I suspect Platinum has more things to initiate in the background than X3 (more features to initialize than X3 had).

Okay will turn it off, but really can't see it affecting if it's set on manual...but what the hell.

Actually I tested opening a normal new project at I must admit it was quite fast...this was after the untick rescan thing. However, no difference with the project, so it would appear the Plt is slower loading a project than X3 and yes, maybe more stuff going on behind it...or maybe a tweak here and there by someone clever might improve this?

Opening projects has been very slow for me as well. X3e on the same machine is very fast.

I, too, am having difficulty with Splat.  The same project loads more quickly in X3 than Splat.  While the project plays perfectly in X3 over and over, it hangs up after a while in Splat.  So, I'm eagerly awaiting the next upgrade to see if this behavior goes away.

If you are having hanging issues start another thread I suggest and get it troubleshooted. We've resolved a number of these issues via driver/firmware+plugin updates. Even running Sonar as administrator.

We hear over and over again in these forums till we are blue in the face that just because the previous Sonar worked the new version of Sonar must be buggy. That is a giant red herring and incorrect assumption. All software has dependencies, and over and over again we get the issues resolved one way or another.

Also (back on topic)/please check out my earlier recommendations for speedier startup.

Thanks..
