I took the big step to Platinum In February. Love the whole thing, from the command centre to the program updates. I am, however, experiencing problems with vocalsync. I create the region effect, etc, and as soon as I play the project to listen and tweak the control, the audio freaks out, clips, and I have to turn down monitors and remove the region effect before the noise will stop.

Anyone with ideas or similar experience?

It sounds like a buffer related problem, could you provide some details on your audio driver.

Type Asio/WMD/ etc

Buffer size etc.

It may be that when using that function you may need to up these for the period of use.

Asio, buffer 1024. Most projects 44.1kHz and 16bit, some 48kHz and 16bit. Since the update via command centre, the noise is not continuous any more. It no sounds like a kick drum playing intermittently with the audio dropping in and out!

What happens if you click the render button?

If i render, everything is fine. I just can't use it live to hear what I'm doing. I have to hope that what it does is the best option.

You can select a different algorithm for preview. Try a different one.

Check the default algorithm, it should be Radius Mix. You can see what algorithm is being used in the Inspector, Clip tab.

Link to Vocal sync online help. Look for the section entitled:

To choose render algorithms for an individual VocalSync clip

Thanks Anderton and Mudgel. Unfortunately no luck. I have tried every possible option without anything positive happening. I discovered something worse, though. If I choose 'percussion' for online render, I can freeze the session! I guess there is no way of re-installing just vocalsync? If I choose to re-install Platinum from the command centre, do you have an idea about the size of the download? I work on wireless internet and pay through my neck for data. This is where the command centre is a problem. Previously I could just re-install from my own drive...

You can install from your own drive.
Command centre stores all the downloads in the folder specified in the preferences. Click the gear icon in the upper right side of the Command Centre and look at the path for downloads. The files will be there u less you deliberately deleted them.

What sound card or audio device are you using? Are you using ASIO drivers?
