  • The addition of VST window/dock scrolling is great. Now can we get it on the Inspector?

Been asking for this for ages. I simply want a scroll bar (or a user option of adding a scroll bar) to the Inspector. Loving the fact I can now scroll around large GUIs in the dock but due to a busted scrollwheel on my trackball I gotta use my keyboard to nav the Inspector.

Even still you gotta hook into something in the Inspector to get scrolling action (and to make keyboard nav work). You gotta be REALLY careful where you click or you end up hooking into a parameter (then scrolling screws up you settings). On top of that any newer PC Modules (like anything release in recent years and/or the add on ones) do not allow you to hook into them for scrolling. If the Inspector is completely filled with these modules you have to minimize them to get at the QuadCurve or other EQs so you CAN hook into them.

I know this sounds insane for anyone who does not have these concerns but it's a serious pain that could sooooo easily be resolved with a simple scrollbar. The addition of this extra VST scrolling got me wanting this even more.

Doooooods!

I've been silently dealing with this issue since the X series introduced the inspector.
Irritating but not a complete workflow buster for me.
Where can I vote for this?

I'm pretty sure I posted an FR thread on this ages ago that didn't really gain any traction. Maybe I'll post another but it might be better if you did and point to this thread. I'd upvote it immediately.

I've squeaked so much about it at this point there may be no point in me doing it.

Cheers.

I think it's a good idea, and will have a look at the FR thread - if I can find something I'll upvote it, if not I'll post one. I can usually find a pointing device to scroll with (I have three set up here, as I find if I use any one of them exclusively I start to have problems), and I appreciate the fact that it takes screen real estate to put a scroll bar on there, but as a user-selectable option - hey, it's our screen real estate, right?

You can scroll the Inspector modules up and down with the mouse wheel. Is that good enough?

Depends on whether one has a mouse wheel handy! I use a trackball much of the time, and I had to find a bit of a hack to get it happening with one of the buttons as a wheel toggle. I also use a trackpad sometimes, and it works with a two-finger sweep - but older trackpads might not do it...

Not when your scroll wheel is busted. I use an expensive trackball I can't afford to replace (benefits far outweigh this one annoyance). Even still with a working scroll wheel it's far too easy to snag a parameter and screw up settings.

I know it's probably not an issue for most people but it's a real bugger on my end.

I think it's a great idea, especially because the list of PC modules keeps GROWING!

We have had scrolling support in the Inspector for several versions. You can use the mouse wheel or page up page down keys. I don't anticipate adding further support because you have a broken mouse wheel :)
