Yes sir Steve, we took a very similar path indeed!
 
As far as choosing one DAW and sticking with it exclusively, let me explain my reasoning. As a non-professional user who has a lot of other non-musical responsibilities in life, I don't like to repeatedly re-invent the wheel by learning software from scratch. Music is my passion, but it is not the activity that pays my bills. So time spent with musical pursuits is precious to me, and I don't want to spend too large a percentage of that time in confusion and reading helpfiles.
 
And that is the reason that I like the new membership model. Updates are doled out in small doses, making them easier to digest and incorporate into my operations.

Personally, I use Sonar like a tape machine.  So it has no shortcomings for me- at all.  I could give a ratz azz about how popular it is.  My 33.3 cents....
