  • Where to draw controllers: Track lane or PRV?

I have the basic installation of Sonar X3 -- most used synths are TTS-1, Roland, Studio Instruments and SoundCenter. Among these synths, where is it more recommended that I draw controllers...in the Track View or PRV controller pane? I usually use modulation, reverb, pitch bend, pan and expression the most. Does it matter where these are drawn?

Explanation would be helpful. Thanks in advance! :)

I would say, some things are better to draw track automation, some are better as MIDI CC messages. Things like modulation, pitch bend, and expression will work well using MIDI CC for most synths. Some synths like TTS-1 have reverb within, therefore you could use MIDI CC here too.
Things like pan & volume are easy in a track envelope. You can assign most any control to a track envelope. And I think track envelopes are easier to deal with.
Also, any FX you add to the tracks can easily be controlled by an envelope.
Just my thoughts, hope it helps.

This is a good question. I record cc 1, 11, etc. with a control surface but when I need to edit the data later I find it easier to convert it to automation lanes. I think it is easier to edit in a lane. I can select multiple nodes and draw shapes. The thing to avoid is to have the same data in both places.
