The problem is having a 16 track 2" machine to play the tape, and at critical levels since they are masters.
They are monsters and have always been expensive to have or to get done as a service.
Anything semi-pro/ home use, was on smaller tape, but still a huge investment with anything more than 8 tracks.
But now they are also dinosaurs, which means there's even fewer that are maintained and working at all.
I looked up Sonicraft and the setup fee is $250 or $275 considering a one-off, and you aren't running 500 copies from it.
Then each reel is $175 I think it said.
They also do actual tape restoration for those of us that have a toasted 2x reel forgotten in a once flooded basement. lol
If it's not sensitive material that may be shared, you might be able to get a good deal in China like Doktar Avalanche mentioned.
So that gives an idea.... and good luck davidt64!
