How do I crossfade this...?

I have this track with two vocal takes, but they aren't cut perfectly in time with each other as seen.
How do you quickly crossfade them? This should be, and I'm sure is, super easy. But I can't get the smart tool to show the crossfade icon :(

Assuming you're not using take lanes, just slide one over the other. You can then right-click on the curve to choose the desired crossfade curves, or set up the desired curves beforehand using the options menu.

Is the image not showing for you? It's hosted on my dropbox and has global access set...
Anywho, yes I'm using take lanes as seen in the image. This is something I actually run across often and I need to get it sorted because it's why I edit in X1 still. If the take lane cuts are not perfect it's a nightmare.

The image doesn't show unfortunately. I am not sure which versions you have available? X3 introduced Speed Comping which is actually pretty painless for this:
If audio is lined up in takes lanes, can split through the lanes and promote the takes on either side of the split.
The crossfade tool (
) can be used on the main track to quickly adjust the crossfade (there is a hot spot for this to appear, and is simply holding the mouse button and dragging up/down when you see it).
If you have X3 or higher, this workflow is very quick for crossfading once you understand the mouse hotspots (
always watch the appearance of the cursor
or it can be frustrating!). More info is here:
