I have both 64 bit and 32 bit installed. Now, when I try to open the 32 bit, I get an error message:
"The program can't start because CWVideoEngine.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem."

Please help.

Seems CWVideoEngine.dll  is related to video ..

Have you the latest video card drivers installed for your puter?

Also I came across this:

https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013353/SONAR-X3d-Launch-Error-for-Missing-MF-dll

I wonder is it sort of related to that - though a different DLL?

Grasping at straws I know .. but

I was hoping the "drum replacer" that's been mentioned would be in here. Maybe we'll get that in East Boston. I hope it's along the lines of Ableton's drum racks, i.e. a host-integrated drum machine that renders the need for 3rd party products like Battery obsolete.

A drum replacer is different from a drum machine. It's designed to replace drum sounds in existing audio tracks. For example, if you have a kick drum track but the kick sound is sub-standard, you can replace it with a different sound. It brings to audio drum tracks a functionality similar to MIDI where you can trigger different drum sounds.

MIDI should radically improve instead of implementig some IRs or Pedal boards which we are using top notch from third party developers. You should stick more with improving functionality of your core product. Peace.

I've explained this many times, but the content I provide is independent of what happens at Cakewalk. Having IRs or pedalboards does not impact Cakewalk's programmers, other than including the content in the installer. If I did not do loops, samples, instruments, IRs, effects, presets, etc. that would not free up ANY time for those working on the program.

Have you actually tried the IRs? I've never seen anything equivalent to them from third party developers, and all the comments so far from users have been very favorable (they also seem to like the pedalboards).

[FWIW,  I am a third party developer and have done sound design and content for Steinberg, Wizoo, Ensoniq, Emu, Native Instruments, Alesis, Gibson, Roland, Peavey, Big Fish Audio, M-Audio, etc.]

This is great. More and more bugs are fixed!! And a few long-standing, workflow-killing ones for me have been fixed too in this update!!!
If my calculation is correct, Sonar will be a bug-free daw by the end of year...... (hopefully )

Thanks for the input.

I can't imagine that being the problem, since this didn't happen until I tried the upgrade. Yesterday I was using both 64 bit and 32 bit versions without an issue. As of now, 64 bit opens as does X3 32 bit. The only problem is with Platinum 32 bit. Why would it all of a sudden require this file when it never did before? And why only SPlat 32?

Could it be a problem with CCC? I've noticed that when I click on Sonar, it still says Cambridge, not Dorchester. I didn't notice that at first. I didn't occur to me to check, I just clicked on the update button. It seemed odd that after updating the light stayed yellow and the update button stays there instead of changing to reinstall as it used to.

Of course, it could well be some ne'er-do-well screwing with my computer. Virus scans haven't turned up anything, but who knows? It looks like I have a busy day ahead not making music.

A recent windows update perhaps, even one of those optional driver updates for a device in your computer?

If malware checking go use malwarebytes ( www.malwarebytes.org ) - its free. Best tip is FIRST clear out all temp folders in windows manually and also temp internet folders. Faster scan :D

Altiverb 7 and SIR 2 created IRs with Knufinke Pinguin are both unbeatable IMHO. But I am not saying anything about you and your work. I am talking about Sonar product and their developers.

Just curious, do they include synthetic and backwards reverbs for the kind of applications I describe (EDM and sound design, respectively)? If so I want to check them out and see how they compare.

If using an anti-virus program, disable it before installation. Some of them don't like things downloaded from the internet that alter your system.
