aidanodr was on the right lines I think. This looks like a missing or corrupted library needed from the Windows base.

Try installing:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968211 (for Windows 7).

If that does not work the C++ libraries probably need upgrading, I don't know what version of C++ Platinum requires, perhaps somebody could link to it. You probably need to check windows update for updates inc optional updates as well, the optional updates may indeed contain the C++ libraries you require.

Looks like some interesting updates in this, but cant see the Drum Replacer anywhere. Am I missing it ?
And its just not clear which update files specifically to download for the Dorchester release over the Cambridge build neither in the web account list nor in the Command center. Some clarity on this will help please.

Whether you use Sonar presets or not, it's not really aimed at people who are already established with their own setup. To be fair, the fact these are provided to you is because you are subscribed and should get something for the money, no?

Besides the bug fixes...if it was only that wouldn't people complain? So I find that a rather condescending and selfish train of thought. You know some DAW software don't offer much in the way of plug-ins or presets, so I for one do appreciate the 'Bakers' efforts.

Anyway that's all I wanted to get off my chest. I ran the update although manually update my VST's so I'll need to run the process. This wasn't aimed at anyone in particular.

installing the Dorchester upgrade, my command centre showed a Windows security warning that a certificate was invalid. The upgrade worked nonetheless. But disconcerting to someone not confident with computers.

Your certificate database is not up to date because nobody else experienced the same problem. Or some other config issue. Your environment is what is disconcerting here.

I'm sorta kinda starting to regret my full buy-in to Platinum

Why?

Because I think I might have been better off paying monthly until I could start to see how things were developing in terms of bug fixes and FRs.

The trouble with that is that if you had monthly payments and you werent sattisfied with one months upgrade ,you would still pay because you would wonder if it will get better or that maybe you are going to miss out on something.
On the other hand ,if you stopped your payments before the end of the year you would not be able to keep what you had paid for already.
Hard Call.

WOW... I just read the PDF. You have been some "busy beavers" at "La Bakery"! Thank you!
I think that Sonar is the DAW of the future (actually of the NOW) some just don't yet realize it. I don't understand why more "pros" don't dump that expensive "protuul" software and it's insanely expensive HW and leave the dark side for good!
That isn't the sun on the horizon, it is SONAR.

It's obviously developing quite nicely. Drum maps a MIDI issues finally sorted - wow! Whole load of bugs quashed - great.... It seems like they are tacking everything like a steam roller. Every month though somebody is going to be disappointed because their issue isn't fixed or something...  I'm annoyed with a couple of minor issues myself for instance, mainly because it shows that some regression issues don't get prioritised more than anything (yes the control bar did get fixed but that was high profile). A regression issue is always a step backwards, new issues are not cool...

I am guessing you really must have specifics in mind to come up with that statement I'd be really interested to know what it is.... :)

On another note...

Last night I installed Dorchester on my main DAW... All went well but I had a series of crashes when simply changing between projects for playback...

I'm guessing it had something to do with rogue plugins, but I'm using essentially all Sonar+bundled devices...

Except for a 32bit vst version of VSampler 3.52 which I must use to access my favorite bass (Will Lee's Sadowsky 5-string from back in my gigastudio days)... I'm guessing this is the culprit but it hasn't caused such trouble previously...

And all the tracks are frozen so none of the vsti's are even loaded?
