GHOSTNOTES
I've not posted here for a very long time since i can usually figure out my problems/issues.On the other hand what i generally do is pretty straight foward and easy.

All I do here is record drums, 12 inputs. Everything else is sent to me and i mix it down etc..No MIDI
I have an Alesis IO-10 Firewire which has been rock solid for ever. I also have a Presonus Digimax D-8 which is ADAT into my IO-26. Works great.Start up cakewalk and off i go.

Recently i acquired an Alesis IO-4. It's USB (MIDI I think)

I figured it would just be a matter of plugging it in and presto 4 more inputs, which i can use.
Problem is, I have no idea how to set it up in Sonar. I have tried what i think i know, but no good. I can get it to work in windows itself and to use it as a mic for video in stead of the webcam mic.
MIDI is something i know little about. I just enough to get my electronic set to work in sonar with BFD, EZ Drummer but that's about it.

What im hoping to do is to use this, in sonar as 4 more drum mic inputs.

Thanks.

If you are using ASIO it will be a problem. ASIO is for a single interface. If you switch to WDM you can use multiple interfaces at the same time.

Tried that.

It now sees it but when i go to the IN/OUT, I lost all of my input assignments. It sees both in the dropdown menu, but there is no input selections. I checked in the preferences and they are enabled.

Sir Les
I saw a post where a new asio has been made...I believe it now allows add on asio or audio .... http://www.steinberg.net/en/company/press/archive/steinberg_press_room_archiv_2006/steinberg_asio_22_standard.html

Will try that as well,

WDM causes me to lose my ADAT inputs from my presonus. I would hate to lose adjustability by auxing it to an extra input.
