  • Bug? Muted MIDI take lane data looks un-muted in collapsed track

So I was trying to figure out why this track wasn't playing back. The MIDI routing was fine; I could hear the instrument OK when playing my controller keyboard interactively... But no sound from the track when I pressed PLAY.

It turns out that the collapsed track is misleading:

When I expanded the take lanes, I could see that most of the data was muted; it wouldn't play back until it hit data several bars in.
Is this a bug? Should the collapsed track look enabled like this, or should we see dimmed/disabled data where the data is muted in the underlying take lane?

I reported this against X3. I had kind of forgotten about it because I tend to mute clips so that I won't see them in the PRV in the case of MIDI. But audio tracks have the same issue with muted lanes.

Thanks for confirming, Brundle. I hadn't noticed the issue with Audio tracks but I guess it makes sense that the problem would be present for them as well.

I'll create a Problem report for this as well.

Incidentally, I checked X2 and it was the same. X1 did not dim clips in muted layers so it wasn't applicable. So basically this appears to be more of a design omission with lanes than a bug; it's a reasonable expectation to have, but it was never advertised to work that way.

Well, a Feature Request then :-)

I reported this against X3.

So, what was CW's response? Was it "As Intended"?
To me, this seems a bug or an oversight.

There are all sorts of takelane issues...  hopefully we shall see a release which tackles them all:

This one for instance is with SOLO buttons

... which got withdrawn 'as intended'
