Hi, I'm in the middle of a project and just realized how badly I wish I could figure out how to do this.  Anyone know how to set a preference or configuration setting that would allow me to do this:

Screenset1 is my main recording screen (VSTs, and console)
Screenset3 is my piano roll editor

When I switch from 1 to 3, I would LOVE to have the piano roll default to the selected track, instead of having to select 'pick tracks', scroll down and select the one you want to work on every time.

Please tell me there is a way to do this :)

Not possible. I wonder why you prefer to switch Screensets just to display the PRV. Why not just double-click the MIDI clip you want to edit? It will open the view for you.

Because I'm retentive and like to work quickly to keep the creativity going (i.e. not be interrupted by the interface) and when you double click on a track, it opens the roll editor on said screenset, changing the screenset.  It would be really, really, awesome to be able to jump to a screenset with a fullscreen piano roll (1 keypress), defaulting to the currently selected track, then quickly jump back (1 keypress).  I don't like grabbing windows and resizing them every time I make a change.  Maybe when I get a 2nd or 3rd monitor, this won't be such a huge issue to me, but with one monitor, it would be really beneficial.

Thanks for the response.

How about this?

1. Load Screenset1.
2. Double-click one of MIDI clips.
3. Right-click on the PRV tab and click Undock.
4. Maximize the floated PRV window manually, without using the Maximize button in the upper right corner of the PRV window.
5. Close the PRV window by clicking the [x] button in the uppper right corner.
6. Unlock and re-lock the current screenset.
7. When you want to work in the full PRV with the current track displayed, just double-click the MIDI clip you want to edit. If you want to go back to the original Screenset1, just close the PRV window (1 click) or assign a keyboard shortcut to Revert Current Screenset and hit the key (1 press).

I usually have multiple PRV windows docked in the multidock, which is floated onto my 2nd monitor.

This way, it's a single click to reach the PRV you want

Wow, answers from all over the world   (Hey, I've lived in Tokyo!)

Thanks a lot.  I'll definitely give these a try and maybe put off getting my next VST and get a second monitor first!

I appreciate the help.

Also, don't forget that Shift+D will open the Multi-dock in maximized form.

From the same goal, I arrived at using one screenset for a variety of open PRV windows.   I try to minimize them in order according to how I think of them, but Sonar when saved and then reloaded insists on re-ordering them.   But at least they are all there, and the contoller lanes that are important are open and those that are not important are closed.    Top left, in each such window, you can click and select "lock contents".
