  • Sonar no longer recognizing WAVES plugs on scan...

for some odd reason Sonar Platinum has quit recognizing my WAVES plugs no matter how I scan them. I've rebooted, rescanned, moved dll files, rescanned again, reset, rescanned...but no love. Anyone else?

I had that happen a couple months ago. I had to uninstall Waves, clear the registry, and reinstall. It worked fine after that. Don't know what caused it though.

I just had that happen tonight when I installed Dorchester and Rapture Pro and then scanned VSTs. I'd like to know what's up, too. I finally clicked the little "x" at the upper right of the pop-up that was demanding to know the path of my Waves plug-ins because it wouldn't accept the truth as an answer. I had to click it many times as it wouldn't give up asking. Now, of course, Sonar doesn't see my (many) Waves plug-ins :(

Thanks for bringing this up, because I thought I was alone and was hesitant to mention it since I thought it was probably some bone-headed move I made that caused the problem to begin with.

All working fine here latest Sonar Update.
Just out of curiosity where do you have Sonar's VST scan pointing to for your Waves stuff ?

It's a Waves issue. The link between the Waves shell dll and all the actual plugins has been broken.

You need to reinstall the plugins but before doing so, uninstall via the Control Panel/Programs Features then delete the Users/your user/appdata/Roaming/Waves folder. After reinstalling, everything should be OK. Alternatively contact Waves support via email. I've found their support to be good and they respond fairly quickly.

Thank you very much, mudgel ! The solution you offered worked perfectly :)

why does every Sonar update break Waves? as someone on the monthly scheme I initially thought this was a good idea, but now I'm regretting it!

As you probably know, Waves does not install their plug-ins the same way other companies do. At least their new copy protection scheme makes the plug-ins easier to re-install.

Welp...as I stated in another thread, my solution was to finally understand that Sonar was NOT looking for the VST folder holding the waveshell...but the actual folder holding the plugs...which is Program Files...X86...WAVES...V9Plugins. And you have to click through to inside that folder...not just the folder itself.
