  • How to make a song stop at certain meassure when bouncing? (It keeps going)

Hey there. Trying to mix a song and save as .wav and MP3. The problem is- it keeps going and mixes down 20 minutes instead of 7 minutes it supposed to. I know there is a way to set "From" and "To" by selecting, but I do not want to select anything. In fact before bouncing, I use "Select Nothing" - this way I do not have to specify which tracks I want to be in the mix- it mixes all active tracks. But I need it to stop when there no more music, and it keeps going- my files like 20 minutes long. And I need to e-mail MP3s like an hour ago... Your help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Make sure there are no events past the seven minute make such as midi notes or automation nodes.

The easiest thing is to select all, then drag across the timeline to select the region you want to export.

The less easy option is to find whatever is past the intended end of the song - maybe an automation node or something. Most of the time you can just select all, then drag from the end of where the song is supposed to end to past where it does in fact end, then delete. But I find the easy way...easier.

SONAR always assumes that the last event in a project represents the end of the song.

Thank you for your replies. I don't see anything at the end of the song. It goes up to 630 measures, and the song is about 300. I solved it for now by selecting "All" and then selecting "Thru=Now", so it worked. But it would be interesting to know what it thinks I have in those measures.

So we see that scook still types faster than I do...but I digress.

Usually as he points out, it's automation nodes or MIDI events. That's why selecting everything in that range and deleting usually solves the problem. Hidden tracks can also be an issue.

Well- you know- if the track has data in it, it would have the dots all the way till the clip. But there are no dots. I will check for automation. Also Automation would not be affected by selecting everything and deleting...

there is a situation where your issue will occur even though it SEEMS
like there are no midi events...

1. There is a midi note with a length parameter that you have overlooked.
this possibility can be diminished because we know that we would still
see a midi note easily when the length is too long.
    So I suspect

2. A midi controller message with an errant length parameter.

worth a check.

Actually that's not true. Automation nodes will be deleted.

Couldn't you just look at the Events List?

That is what I usually do...
easy to see an errant cc there.
