The Event list will not pick up tempo changes, meter/key changes etc

Also check if there's anything in hidden tracks, and check your busses as well as tracks.

Is that the tagline for the X-Series Files?

Just curious...why would there be tempo changes or meter/key changes eleventy jillion or so measures out from the ostensible end of the song?

Unlikely it's one of those. You can move clips around and push stuff further out in timeline. Like when there's an automation node at the end of a project, you insert some measures, move some things...you can have "leftovers" from importing a wav file at its timestamp...there are plenty of possibilities.

In my experience it's totally random whether the Project stops playback/export at project end or not. I have not been able to find any logic behind it. In SONAR 4 and 6 it was not that common, IIRC, but now in 8.5 it's more like a rule that playback goes on past the Project end. I would warmly welcome a method to mark the end of the song in a way that really stops playback/export, every time.
I find it most irritating when I audition the mixes walking around, getting coffee etc. And when I'm back at my PC the Project is somewhere at measure n:o 1258.

Sir Les
Well, When I render I always select what I want to render between the start of the content stop of the content markers (key stroke= M) I drop in by selecting the tracks, holding down the mouse button dragging that over the tracks I want, (turns them grayer or darker) I try putting markers on start of the content wanted on the time line, stop markers of the content on the time line of the content first...then select by dragging that mouse over and between those markers....Does it for me...I always get just that stuff...RENDERED....Mute tracks you do not want in the rendering.

But if another thing is causing issues with this process...then I'll sand down, and let the techs who know more continue to  help....what I do not understand, I will learn...form.

Cheers.

Expand the Options tab in the Track Pane, and there is option for telling Sonar to Stop At Project End.  Just make sure this option is checked.

Curious.

All of my projects stop exactly where I expect them to. On those occasions when it doesn't stop as expected, I track it down and as noted above, there is always "something out there".

The X-Series files. Got an idea for a song. Thanks Craig
