  • How to get rid of automation tail to make song END?

Hey, guys

Is there a way to make song END? I recorded the volume automation on one track and it has green line tail for another 40 measures past the end of the wav clip. Is there a way to assign the end of a song to certain measure? If I bounce it like this it will have silent empty space at the end of the song. Thank you.

There's probably an easier way, but you can go to the end of the tail, click and hold on the dot at the end and drag it back to where you want the song to end.  If the end of the envelope isn't at -INF (no volume), double click on the line right at the end of the wave clip so you don't change the volume in the actual clip while you are repositioning the end of the envelope.

Thank you for your reply. There is no "last" dot, other words- there is last dot that controls volume but after it, it continues to have green line ............................................................................................ indefinitely for like 40 measures. There is no way to create another dot- if I would, it will still have line after.

Not to be nit picky, but you haven't found the end of it at all?  Does it go from solid to dotted at some point?

Well- there solid fat line that connects large dots which show level numbers and can be moved. Then there is skinny small dotted line that goes between parts. Lets say- song continues and I touch the volume- it creates 2-3 large dots. I touch is again 2 minutes later- it creates another 2-3 dots, but there small dotted line going between and after. So at the end it is small dotted line that just continues.............................................................................................
It ends at measure 317 with no last large dot. But song ends at lets say 267 (much earlier).

Try to left click and hold on the very end of the line at measure 317 and drag it back.

Every Volume automation ought to have at least 2 'nodes'. A beginning and end. Nodes in between are your 'riders'. The dots shows there is no automation and will display like 'infinity'.
I suspect there is some other value data causing that 40 extra measures.
If nothing else can be found in another track, or the like, then assume its a glitch of computer data causing a file corruption.
Delete the automation envelope and try again

slightly different wording http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3183314 but the solutions are the same

That's what I was thinking... something in another track keeping it "open".

Well- it is after the nodes- same dotted line at the beginning of the track before the first clip and after the last clip. However- I need to be able to set the end of the song. It happens almost in every song. I cant tell how it happens- either it is continuous midi recording without any notes or clip produced or old track that was deleted. There is no data. There is no MIDI tracks- it just has extra space and when I bounce it, the song comes up with huge file size and empty space at the end. And there is no way to get rid of this space? No "Delete measures"? When I edit or master the track in another software, I can split the empty end of the stereo track, but it makes these huge files that take hard drive space and extra work to shorten. If there is no function, Cakewalk team may consider to creat such an option. Very desired.
