It wasn't that I could not remember how I had it,  it's just that I was too lazy to do it manually.  Besides, I renamed a saved reg file from a previous backup in anticipation of the fix, so double clicking a reg file to restore the control bar was just much easier and quicker. 

I run an overnight scheduled task that does a granular backup up of most of the Sonar settings to their respective reg files.  One for keyboard shortcuts, one for colours, one for the control bar, etc ....

I have to say I find it ironic that someone would find the re-arrangement of the Control Bar to defaults so terribly disturbing to their workflow, and then have to resort to screenshots or registry imports to help them remember how they like to have it.

Yes, I'm glad this one is finally fixed.  Something tells me we were trained to wait with it.  I bet Noel had it fixed by the 10th of April
