Hi Sonar friends,

I need some help/advice on Win 8.1 because I have just bought a laptop computer which came with this  O.S. system and I am going to perform on a concert soon. I have never used this OS before and I am a little scared.

I am going to use Sonar X3 and its playlist function which links songs together. All my projects songs will be running a basic stereo audio track and I am going to play some vsti live via a keyboard controller over this background track.

Any help would be great.

Thank you very much.

Most of the tips for Win 7 apply to Win 8 as well. A big one is disabling AVS. Set your power scheme to always on AND make sure your drives are set to never power down (not at desk and forget setting name). Disable wireless and Bluetooth.

do nothing. all the old tricks and tweaks really do not make much of a difference in Win 8 and 8.1 Perhaps some find some solace in perceiving some sort of difference. But in my experience there is not much to be gained.

Joden I must respectfully disagree. Especially in regards tq power settings. If the disks or CPU is throttled you can experience dropouts or glitches. Other things like backups or OneDrive synchronization can also play havoc. Anything that steals CPU time is also a potential problem.

I agree win 8 is more friendly, but tweaking is still required for best performance.
