Just purchased the upgrade to platinum. I would like to do a clean install of platinum removing X3. This used to be easy, but now we have external installers for AD2 (XLN) and Melodyne (Celemony) as well as the various cakewalk products (rapture, pc4k, ca2a, dimension, etc)
 
So, what is the best way to remove X3 and install platinum? I don't want to keep two versions on my computer and I want to make sure it's all installed correctly.  Do I just uninstall X3 and install platinum, leaving the rest alone? Or do I have to remove everything and re-install everything?
 
To make matters more confusing, I installed "command center" (I hate these onine installers!) and it shows that I have nothing installed, everything red on the left side. But I have everything installed sans the new platinum version, X3, AD2, Melodyne, etc. etc.  
 
I'm not going any further until I get some advice here as I've had major issues with all this in the past.

The short answer: You shouldn't have any trouble if you uninstall X3 via the Control Panel/uninstaller file, and then simply install Platinum.
 
However: If you'd like to go with a completely clean installation, there are instructions for completely removing SONAR X3 in this Knowledge Base article. In the last step, rather than installing X3, you can simply install SONAR Platinum from the Command Center. 
 
Currently the Command Center only indicates programs that have been downloaded and installed through the Command Center itself. There is no harm in running the installers for the already-installed programs, as they'll simply rewrite files that are already in place. However if you'd like to completely remove all of your Cakewalk software and install it all fresh from the Command Center, there's actually another KB article on removing all Cakewalk software.

Someone should update those docs to at least mention C3 and the NEW SONAR and how they "differ".

I will try to get my question answered one more time! I have asked several times in other threads about this subject and I guess I got lost in the excitement of the Platinum release!
There used to be an issue about replacing DimPro and Rapture that if you installed a new version without going in the registry and changing the registration number that Sonar would not recognize the new version. You could not just delete and re-install without wading thru the registry and doing those edits. Am I to understand that now I can just install these plugins in Platinum right over the older ones, put in the registration number, and there should be no problems?
I was lucky enough last time to get in and out of the registry to fix a reinstallation problem with this. I really don't want to have to go thru that again! In another thread I read not to even bother because those plugins were so old there was no reason to but it still makes me wonder do I benefit from installing EVERYTHING in Platinum. I have every version of Sonar from 8 up to Platinum on my drive. I know backwards compatibility I probably need to leave them but can't help feeling it's housecleaning time after all these years and I'm considering uninstalling everything and just putting the complete Platinum package back on. The computer all this is on is getting pretty long in tooth and I wonder if I am going to get even better performance by eliminating so many versions of Sonar.

Ok, so I removed everything. Including melodyne, addictive drums installer, all my plugins, dimension pro, rapture, everything. 
 
What I did NOT do is remove anything the uninstallers didn't remove. So I didn't go to the "program files" directory and clean directories, I didn't go into the registry and remove anything, and of course I didn't remove any of my projects or project directories. 
 
I just uninstalled them from "Programs" in the control panel. 
 
After doing that I installed the command center, logged in, and installed everything the command center had in it. 
 
Interestingly, there is an install for AD2 (XLN) but all it does is tell you to install the XLN installer and use it. 
 
So, I re-installed XLN's installer. Melodyne was installed by the command center. 
 
I had a few things from cakewalk that weren't in CCC, like the pc4k, CA-2A, etc. Those had to be reinstalled. 
 
It all worked very well, some things "remembered" their serial #'s and keys, other things did not. But those are all easy to retrieve from your cakewalk account.
 
All working well and this was a good way to do it in my opinion.
