Since the install of CbB, I've noticed that shutting down my system has been having issues. I get the classic shutdown blue screen with this statement:
Task Host Window
Task Host is stopping background tasks. (\Microsoft\Windows\DeviceDirectoryClient\RegisterUserDevice)

If anyone has any insight to this that may be helpful I would appreciate it.

Only connection with CbB is the Bandlab assistant, Is that opening when you boot up? If so you can disable that if you have the updated version in it's Options gear.
And you should check your task bar before shuting down and close anything that is open.

This may or may not be related, but I noticed that Bandlab Assistant was put into my startup programs, which I find rather intrusive on the part of BandLab and was thinking of posting a gripe about. You may try disabling it in the startup programs - that's what I did:  control panel or maybe task manager; startup tab. Scroll to Bandlab Assistant, disable.

What I may try is completely uninstalling the Assistant and CbB.  During the original installation of CbB via Bandlab Assistant the file downloaded but never actually installed.  I sat and waited for a while, got up and walked away.  Came back and nothing happened.  So I checked my downloads folder and an install file for CbB was in there.  So I doubled clicked it and then the install actually started and completed without issues (or so it seemed).

Should the install have started automatically and finished on it's own via Bandlab Assistant (without browsing to the downloads folder and double clicking the install file)?  If so, this maybe where my problem originates.

The new version of BandLab Assistant is non-intrusive and does not automatically start.
However, I had the original version and it did not cause any problems on my Win 10 when shutting down.

My guess is that because my initial installation didn't go as intended, something has become corrupt.  So uninstalling and reinstalling the Assistant and CbB could possibly be the answer.  I'm sure if my install had gone smooth there wouldn't be any issues.  There's a good chance my antivirus software was stopping the Bandlab Assistant from installing software on my machine.  So before doing the install next time, I'm going to temporarily disable my virus protection.

That must be a really new version of BandLab Assistant you are talking about....I just downloaded and installed mine on April 8th. It started on boot until I disabled it in the startup programs tab.

The latest version of the Assistant is 3.0.6 and I downloaded it on April 12th.
To install CbB  I downloaded with the assistant and I installed it from the Download folder and as always I choose "run as Administrator"
In the Bandlab assistant top left is a gear where you can choose options including it not opening on boot up.
Mine is totally inert now.
I never think about it or use it.
Only need to open it occationally to check for updates which I'm sure this forum will have 100 threads about so we will certanly know when that happens. But you will need it installed to download the CbB updates as they come.

So far my suspicions are correct. Uninstalled both the Bandlab Assistant and CbB and suprise, suprise, it shutdown like normal. Now to reinstall with my antivirus software temporarily disabled.  I'll report back.

I'm wondering if the keeping the Bandlab Assistant running will enable Cakewalk to update automatically when new versions are released, since it does tell whether it is "up to date."  Though that probably wouldn't be a good idea, since it could interrupt whatever you are doing (Cakewalk or otherwise) with a hefty download.  But at least, it seems, it provides an easy way to tell if you are using the latest version.

Incidentally, Bandlab Assistant doesn't show the most recent project I uploaded, which was two days ago (April 18).  Even if I search for it.  When I logon to the Bandlab site, it is clearly there and accessible.
