JoseC.
I use exactly the same layouts to hide/show the Track View widget pane, as well as other different screen configurations asigned to key bindings. I take this a bit further with a Contour Shuttle Pro device. This thingy allows to asign keyboard macros to it buttons, and one of the options is that it can cycle through them as you press, so instead of having to remember, say, the shortcuts for all the layouts relative to midi editing (i.e. PRV full screen, Event list plus PRV, etc, etc,,,), you can assign all them to a single Shuttle Pro button and just press it until you get the layout you want. I suppose that you can achieve this with any similar device.

Jose.

I'm glad you put this here Freddie. It worked for me after I read the post that Wicked made. As I said in his thread I knew about Layouts for a long time but never used them until this post. BTW this reminds me about Logic which has a similar system that uses the numpad to changes views. I always liked that ability now I have it again. My thanks to you and Wicked.

Thanks John! =)

Yes, that's right John. "Workspace"'s are available in LOGIC and as well in Cubase /Nuendo too. SONAR work-space's work kind of different compare to LOGIC and Cubase. That's one feature I sometimes actually miss in SONAR, even though SONAR works pretty well working from one window environment. The different is that in LOGIC and Cubase it remember everything as example, "Console"-configurations layouts as well any window placements and behaviors, all in exclusive “work-spaces”. You can have as many as 99 work-spaces in Logic and Cubase and all can be bind to keycommands.
Often I used 9 work-space's and I bind them to the key commands “1-9” numeric-keys on my keyboard. Often I used different views of arrangement as “Zoom”-levels but even different ”Mixers-console”-views and so on...

Freddie

I've talked about this before as have others, but I wanted to keep this info active.

For people trying to "wrap" dx and dxis as vsts so that they will work with the new Bit Bridge (works well with with Waves stuff):

1 Download this:

http://xlutop.com/buzz/zip/dxshell_v1.01b.zip

2. Unzip the files.

3. Create a folder in Program Files x86 directory. Name it what ever you like, possibly DXvsts.

4. Find the .dll files (and only the .dll files) for your dx plugins and copy and paste them into the new folder from step 3.

5. Drag the dxshell.dll file and shell2vst.exe files into the same folder from step 3.

6. In the folder, drag the dxshell.dll file on top of the shell2vst.exe file and it will wrap your files

You will now notice a new folder simply named DX. This contains all your wrapped vsts.

7. Open SONAR and do a vst scan pointing it to the DX folder and you should be good to go in 64 bit land.

Please note in the DX folder all of your native Cakewalk fx will also be "wrapped", but will not scan properly. You can go in this folder and delete those .dll files. You wont need them as they will open in SONAR anyway.

Hope this helps.

Wow! This is so cool. I don't know what to say. But I just tried this on CW's FX 3 Sound Stage and it WORKED!!!!
Now I have my beloved FX 3 in my 64 bit Sonar. I can't thank you enough. I had given up all hope ever using it again now my system is much the same plugin wise as it was under Vista 32.  Its the only one I did this to too. I really didn't want any other plugins from the old 32 DX stuff. Though I may try the Timeworks plugins for Sonar past.

I know this may not be news to most people, but to me it was a "hey, I didn't know that!" moment. I had started a thread about it, but will mention it here just in case.

Did you know that tab to transient no longer requires Audiosnap to be enabled for a track? Sonar now automatically recognizes transients and you can tab to them on one or multiple tracks.

Helpful help about Windows 7 core-parking from Tom G
http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=1861804

Firstly major props to new forum member sky60234 for the following method.

Some of you will recall my previous regedit to turn-off Win 7 Core Parking here:-  http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=1852473

This is now superseded by a much better method.   Thanks to  sky60234   there is now an  easier  / non-destructive  /  fully reversible  way to do this - ie: no deletions of .Reg keys needed - only an entry value adjustment.

________________________________________________________

In short, here is the better method from sky60234:-

- Go to Regedit

- Find this key:-  " 0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318583 "

- Within this key, there is a value called:  " ValueMax "

- This value represents the % number of cores the system will park - the default 100%  ie:  all Cores are potentially park-able

- Change the value from 64 to 0 so the " ValueMin "  and  " ValueMax " are both zero

- You will have to find the key a few times and repeat the process for each time it is found - the number of instances will depend on the number of power profiles in your system  [  in my DAW it was only found twice ]

- Do a full shutdown and power-off and cold-re-start

________________________________________________________

I have tested the above on a clean Windows 7 x64 / Clean 8.5.1 install and it works perfectly - all Cores are available at all times and none are ever parked - the result  =  even CPU loads at all times regardless of loads.

As sky60234 noted, the advantage of the above is that nothing at all is being deleted from the Registry -  all that is being done is that a value is being adjusted.

Again, major thanks and props to   sky60234  for this excellent  fix.
