I've talked about this before as have others, but I wanted to keep this info active.
For people trying to "wrap" dx and dxis as vsts so that they will work with the new Bit Bridge (works well with with Waves stuff):
1 Download this:
http://xlutop.com/buzz/zip/dxshell_v1.01b.zip
2. Unzip the files.
3. Create a folder in Program Files x86 directory. Name it what ever you like, possibly DXvsts.
4. Find the .dll files (and only the .dll files) for your dx plugins and copy and paste them into the new folder from step 3.
5. Drag the dxshell.dll file and shell2vst.exe files into the same folder from step 3.
6. In the folder, drag the dxshell.dll file on top of the shell2vst.exe file and it will wrap your files
You will now notice a new folder simply named DX. This contains all your wrapped vsts.
7. Open SONAR and do a vst scan pointing it to the DX folder and you should be good to go in 64 bit land.
Please note in the DX folder all of your native Cakewalk fx will also be "wrapped", but will not scan properly. You can go in this folder and delete those .dll files. You wont need them as they will open in SONAR anyway.
Hope this helps.
Update....of “emwhy” POST! The DX wrapper work fine in SONAR 8.5. especially with “Melodynebridge”& Melodyne 3 Studio.
Now you can work with out any error message if you use the DX-wrapper version of “Melodynebridge” instead.
http://www.celemony.com/cms/index.php?id=products_studio Also, there are more benefits, for those that use “SONY Soundforge”
All SONY plugins, that was exclusive use for “Soundforge”, get wrapped and can be used in SONAR 8.5 64bit now too! Sweet =)
http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/soundforge There are a new DX-wrapper version, out now!... that you can download and use here.. Its FREE. http://xlutop.com/buzz/zip/dxshell_v1.0.2b.zip Un-Zip it! next off..
“Emwhy-post” ( 6) In the folder, drag the dxshell.dll file on top of the shell2vst.exe file and it will wrap your files
You don't need to drag and do this moment (6.) with SONAR 8.5
(I don't know about WAVES-plugins) because I believe SONAR-host are supporting shell plugins already. You can do like this instead with SONAR 8.5 64bit
1. You make a new in “Program files(x86)” and call the new map: “32bitDX-wrapper”; example ----> C:Program files(x86)/32bitDX-wrapper/
2. Copy to ---> "32bitDX-wrapper"-map
- dxshell.dll, ..*a wrapper for directx effects(dx) for use in vst host applications.
- dxishell.dll, ..*a wrapper for directx instruments(dxi) plugins for use in vst host applications.
I don't use this.... not recommended! (- mfxshell.dll, ..*a wrapper for midi fx plugins(mfx) for use in vst host applications, beware that not all mfx plugins may work with this wrapper.) 3. Start SONAR. Go to
Plugin Manager and add the new location for scan! ---> C:Program files(x86)/32bitDX-wrapper/
4. Close and Re-start. SONAR scan all DX plugins.. If you get error message, don't worry, just close the message and SONAR continue to re-scan.
5. Now close SONAR again.. and Re-start SONAR 8.5., 64bit.
6. Go to---
Plugin manager in SONAR 8.5
7.
All DX plugins that has been
DX-wrapped to VST are marked with “(0)” in the ending --> example: “xxxx. (0)” in SONAR 8.5 Ready for use!
Hope this helped!
