You can key bind the clip indicators in both the track view and the console view. This will let you reset them with a single key press.

In the key binding dialog look for "Reset All clips and numeric peak indicators". You will need to do this twice using the same key press one in the track view and again in the console view.  I use y for this.

I had the Console View key binded, but never was able to get the Track View to follow suit, until I successfully followed up on your valuable tip.

Thanks for the tip, John!

Your welcome Billy.

Another tip. It seems we see a lot of problems exporting a mix to a stereo file. I have found the easiest way for me and a simple way is to use a single bus as the output for the export. When you setup your project be sure to include a master bus that all tracks and all other buses output to. This becomes the bus to select in the export dialog. You can have your final FX and other treatments on this bus too. Just be sure that this bus receives all the audio in the project either directly or via other buses.  It also becomes the master volume control as well.

The reason not to use the main outs is that they should be left alone as far as changing the fader volume on them.  They represent your physical outs and should be set after calibration to always output the very same dB from project to project depending on the setting of the master buss's fader.  You should be able to adjust the listening volume at a point that does not impact these settings. This is one good way to always have a proper idea what the volume will be when played back on other gear. This requires that you have a way to monitor the level on the audio device outside of Sonar. The level should agree in the main outs and what you see on the sound card or the mixer used.

Yes, great tip John, and I use it in same matter as you.
I have one Bus called "Sub Master"----> routed to another Bus called "MASTER" that is the absolutely last final-"BUS", then routed to the ->>"Audiocard"

Another tip is that if you want example the Bus: "Sub Master" (or any other bus of your own choice) to be the "default"-bus when you make audio tracks and open VST intruments you do like this....

Its very easy!
Example:

---> right click on you mouse on---> the Bus-channel in Console-view, "Sub Master"-bus and select from Menu "set as default bus".

Now all new Audio channels & VST-Instrument-outputs will automaticly be route to ---> "Sub Master" as default bus.

Great isn't it!
Regards
Freddie

I've done too Freddie.  The sub buss can come in real handy.

Check out the November issue of EQ Magazine, Craig Anderton writes a quick column in "Power App Alley" about how to use the PX-64 (yes the PX-64) to liven up bass guitar tracks:

(Might not be online yet, but it;s in the newstand copy).

Did you know that tracking looped sections in 8.5.1 is vastly improved?

I used to get seemingly random surges that maxed out the audio engine at the loop points that used to necessitate putting a limiter on the last bus in order not to blow my brains out especially when rewired to another app.  Fingers crossed, that issue seems completely cured now making me a happier bunny.

Also I'm able to double click a Sonar file and it doesn't complain that it can't find the file before loading it anyway and I haven't had to make the usual registry edit to suppress this behaviour.

It's the little things like this make my entire day a more pleasant experience....sad but true.
